As part of our commitment to sustainable development, ZTT integrates biodiversity protection throughout the full lifecycle of our overseas infrastructure projects — from planning and design to construction and operation.

In Koh Kong Province, Cambodia — a region known for its rich ecological value, including the Southern Cardamom Mountains and several protected areas — ZTT partnered with Electricité du Cambodge (EDC) to carry out a transmission line project with a strong focus on biodiversity conservation. A dedicated Biodiversity Action Plan was developed and implemented, aligning with IFC Performance Standard 6, ADB guidelines, and Cambodian environmental regulations.

Key biodiversity-focused measures adopted during the project include:

  • Avoiding ecologically sensitive areas and known wildlife migration corridors

  • Optimizing tower designs to reduce the risk of bird collisions and electric shock

  • Employing live-line construction techniques to minimize disturbance to natural habitats Managing invasive species, dust, and soil erosion

  • Replanting native vegetation and restoring affected areas

  • Delivering environmental training and partnering with organizations such as WWF Cambodia for joint ecological monitoring

ZTT firmly believes that infrastructure development should not come at the expense of nature. By applying the internationally recognized “avoid–minimize–mitigate–compensate” principle, we ensure that endangered species and critical habitats are protected throughout our project activities.

Through these efforts, ZTT continues to set a benchmark for responsible infrastructure development in ecologically sensitive regions and demonstrates our long-term dedication to balancing growth with environmental stewardship.
